Director Jan Saska

Jan Saska (1987, Prague) is a Czech animation director and comics author. He has graduated in Classical Animation Studies from Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín and in Animation from Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). After premiering at la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes in May 2016 his graduation film Happy End has been screened on numerous film festivals worldwide and received more than thirty awards. The film, a black comedy about death, was shortlisted for the 2017 Oscars in the Animation Short category. In 2012, with two of his long-time collaborators and friends, Jan founded True Lovers, an artistic group dedicated to comics and animation. The same year he created his first comics with the Hurikán character. In 2024 he finished directing his first professional animated short called HURIKÁN, using this character as a main protagonist.
