Nico Bonomolo was born in Palermo in 1974. Having abandoned his legal career, he dedicated himself full time and as a self-taught to drawing, painting and, since 2008, to authored animated cinema.
With his short films he has participated in many of the main international festivals, obtaining numerous awards, including a David di Donatello, the Bruce Corwin Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, the Gryphon Award at the Giffoni Experience, two nominations for the David di Donatello, one at the Nastro d'Argento and one at the Golden Globe. His latest two short films, Confino and Maestrale, qualified for an Oscar® nomination.
