Where Time Stood Still
A widowed mother and daughter’s ascetic life in an isolated village in the Caucasus mountains is interrupted by the arrival of a foreign traveler in need of shelter. His presence awakens an erotic longing in both women, who are left to simmer in their guilty consciences after the traveler departs.

Nino Benashvili is a writer and director from Tbilisi, Georgia, and a 2023 BAFTA scholar. She is currently a Grad film student at NYU Tisch. Her debut narrative short, Where Time Stood Still (2024), premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Her documentary Children of Nikozi (2021), about her childhood village bombed in the 2008 Russo-Georgian War, won Bronze Remi at Houston WorldFest and aired on PBS. She earned her B.A. from St. John’s College in philosophy and history of math and science.
