Director Harry Besel

Harry Besel is a film director and screenwriter born in Kazakhstan and raised in Kassel, graduating with distinction in Visual Communication from Kunsthochschule Kassel (2024). His graduation film "Risen from Ruins" premiered at Hof IFF and won the Next Generation International Audience Award at Brussels Short Film Festival, screening also at IN THE PALACE. His earlier "GRENZER – A Border Tale" (2023) and "The Ball Man" (2019, shot on 16mm) screened at festivals including On Art Film Festival, where the latter received an Honorable Mention. He has assisted Bertrand Mandico and Tom Schreiber on feature productions.
