Halima Elkhatabi graduated from INIS Montréal with the Excellence Scholarship, starting her career as a documentary director and writer. Her script "La barricade" (2009) won Best Short Film at Fantasia 2011 and the Cinema Pioneers Scholarship from Ciné-Québec. In 2011, she was a finalist for SODEC's "Cours écrire ton court" contest. "Fantas" (2024) is her second short fiction film as director.
