In the north of France where cockfights are still authorized, 22 years old Anaïs gets into heavy debts after her father, a former fighting roosters’ breeder, passes away. As she needs to quickly find money, the young woman has no choice but to dive into the world of cockfights and make Balthazar, her father’s last rooster, fight.

After a Bachelor in Cinema at the University Paris 1 in 2006, Xavier Demoulin directed in 2014 his first short movie, L’étang, produced by Good Fortune Films. Selected in many festivals, L’étang is awarded best short movie at the FMK International Short Film Festival (Podernone, Italy), and it obtains the Afficionado Ficcion price at the Ciné de Bogota Festival (Bogota, Colombia). In 2022, Xavier Demoulin co-writes with Louise Dubois Beaks and Nails, a short movie produced by Melocoton Films.
