Director Gianluigi Toccafondo

Gianluigi Toccafondo was born in San Marino (Italy) in 1965. He graduated from the Urbino School of Fine Arts and now lives in Bologna. In his work, he sets painting in motion through a technique that established him in the 1990s as one of the leading directors of animated cinema: he uses pre-existing images (magazine photos, film stills) that he distorts with photocopying, then reworks with acrylic, pencil or any other medium,

before re-filming them one by one. one by one. Gianluigi Toccafondo has also worked as an assistant director on Matteo Garrone's Gomorra in 2008, and in 2010 created the credits for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. He also creates illustrations for publishing on texts such as Collodi's Pinocchio (Logos) and for publishers such as Corraini, Mondadori, Bup and L'aboreto. At the same time, he exhibits his drawings and silkscreen prints in numerous galleries in Italy and abroad (Tokyo, Paris, New York...).
