Jalal is a Syrian animation filmmaker who began his career in 2010 with Creatures of Inexistence. His 2013 film Canvas on Mixed Media was shown at Annecy and on ARTE. After moving to Berlin, he made the animadoc Suleima, which premiered at DOK Leipzig 2014. His
master’s film Have a Nice Dog! premiered at Filmfest Dresden, won multiple awards, and qualified for the 2020 Oscar shortlist. Jalal has also served on juries at ITFS, Annecy, and other festivals.
