Svetoslav Stoyanov is a director, producer, and co-founder of the production company Portokal, whose films have been internationally awarded and distributed. Pavel Vesnakov’s Pride won the Grad Prix at Clermont-Ferrand ISFF and was nominated for the 2014 European Film Awards. The Portuguese-Bulgarian coproduction Setembro by Leonor Noivo opened in competition at Locarno IFF in 2016. Svetoslav’s short film Load and Ivaylo Minov’s Mother were nominated for the Jameson Short Film Award at Sofia Film Fest and for The Golden Rose in 2018 and 2020 

respectively. Andrey Paounov’s feature debut January opened at Black Nights Tallinn IFF in 2021.

 

Svetoslav’s award-winning directorial debut, The Last Black Sea Pirates, competed in more than 30 international festivals, including the world’s leading documentary cinema forums, such as HotDocs, DOK Leipzig and Visions du Reel. Член е на Асоциацията на българските продуценти.

 

Since 2015, Svetoslav is a member of the selection committee of the international documentary competition at Sofia Film Fest. He has sat on the jury of several festivals, including Golden Apricot Erevan IFF and Golden Rhyton. He is a member of the Bulgarian Producers’ Association
