Най-големият межународен фестивал за късометражно кино в България IN THE PALACE се среща с българската и международна публика от 31 май до 7 юни. Фестивалът ще се проведе в Двореца на културата в Перник. Тази година 13 членно жури определя победителите в категориите за: най-добър игрален; анимационен; документален и експериментален филм в професионална и студентска конкурсна програми; питчинг сесия.

Емил Спахийски е журналист, сценарист и режисьор с огромен опит в печатните медии, телевизията и киното. Носител е на наградата за режисьорски дебют на фестивала за документално кино „Златен ритон“, 2019 за филма „Икар от Кочериново“. Носител е на приза за сценарий на Българската филмова академия за „Съдилището“, 2015. В момента е и директор съдържание и бизнес развитие на вестниците “Телеграф” и “Мач Телеграф” и Telegraph online - част от НОВА броудкаст груп.

Зоран Галич е продуцирал пълнометражни и късометражни игрални филми, документални филми и един анимационен филм. През 2015 г. получава националната награда за своя принос към филмовата индустрия на Босна и Херцеговина. Член е на Европейската филмова академия и член на борда на директорите на Асоциацията на филмовите дейци в Босна и Херцеговина.
Огньен Петкович печели 21 международни и национални награди за късометражните си филми. В момента работи по игрално-документален филм “Звуците на тишината” и по първия си пълнометражен игрален филм „Катар“.
Пол Негоеску има късометражни филми награждавани и селектирани на фестивали като Кан, Берлинале (2008, 2009, 2010), Карлови Вари, Ротердам. Два от филмите му са номинирани от Европейската филмова академия. Първият му игрален филм „Един месец в Тайланд“, представен на Фестивала във Венеция, е удостоен с наградата на ФИПРЕССИ на София Филм Фест. Отличен е и като най-добър дебют на Международния филмов фестивал в Трансилвания. Вторият му игрален филм „Два лотарийни билета“ се превърна в един от най-успешните румънски филми в боксофиса. Третият - „Историята на един любовник“, бе разпространен от Netflix в над 30 държави. В момента четвъртият му пълнометражен филм е в постпродукция.
Член на журито е и Петра Цьопнек. Нейният филм „Къде е Лоте?“ бе селектиран за 17то издание на Международния фестивал за късометражни филми IN THE PALACE, където получи наградата за Най-добър експериментален филм.
Розалия Лас спечели наградата за най-добра студентска анимация на миналогодишното издание на IN THE PALACE с „Нека светът не те носи“, а впоследствие и множество други, сред които и наградата Renato Guttuso на Международния фестивал на анимационния филм в Италия ANIMAPHIX.
Светослав Стоянов е режисьор, продуцент и съосновател на продуцентска компания “Портокал“. Режисьорският му дебют “Последните черноморски пирати” се състезава в над 30 международни фестивала, сред които и едни от най-престижните форуми за документално кино - HotDocs, DOK Leipzig и Visions du Reel. От 2015 г. Светослав е селекционер на международното състезание за документално кино на София филм фест.

Скай Фицджералд е член на документалния клон на Академията за филмови изкуства и науки. Режисира трилогия от филми за световната бежанска вълна. Първият – 50 FEET FROM SYRIA бе селектиран в шортлистата на Оскарите. Вторият – LIFEBOAT бе номиниран за Оскар и национална награда ЕМИ. Третият – HUNGER WARD също бе включен в шортлистата за Оскар и е отличен за най-добра режисура на Social Impact Media Awards.
Слободан Д. Пешич е следващият член на журито. Първият му пълнометражен игрален филм "Случаят Хармс", е селектиран за Филмовия фестивал в Кан в последствие и печели похвали от журито на филмовите фестивали в Берлин, Манхайм, Йерусалим, Монреал, Торонто, Сан Франциско, Чикаго и Хонконг. Преподава в университета Уебстър, САЩ.
Стефан Милович продуцира ситкома „Извън обхват“, който се излъчва по черногорската национална телевизия през последните три години. Мести се в Люксембург и се присъединява към семейството на Wady Films, където работи като мениджър и изпълнителен продуцент на късометражни филми и най-новите игрални пълнометражни филми с международна копродукция.

Файзал Куреши пише сценарии за американски и британски компании, сред които BBC и Bazelev. Като продуцент работи по игрални и документални филми, сред които Four Lions, Leaving Neverland, The Day Shall Come и In The Shadow of 9/11.

Франческа Варджиу работи със Sardegna Film Commission по представянето ѝ на Берлинале, Международния филмов фестивал във Венеция и др. Работила е за италиански филмови продукции, сред които Loro на Паоло Сорентино на Indigo Film, I Wonder When You Will Miss Me на реж. Франческо Феи на Apnea Film и др.
Юсуф Сайги е заснел много късометражни филми и работи като технически координатор на фестивалите на турския филм в Хонконг, Либона, Пекин и Международния филмов фестивал в Малатия. От 2012 г. ръководи продуцентската компания KARE Film Production, а от 2015 г. е директор на фестивала за късометражни филми в Измир.

Асоциация Française du Festival International du Film“ (AFFIF) организира Short Film Corner, от 23-ти до 27-ми май 2022 г., като част от програмата на фестивала в Кан. Целта му е да насърчава контактите между професионалисти, които имат важна роля, пряко свързана с режисурата, продуцирането, излъчването или популяризирането на късометражни филми.

IN THE PALACE присъства със собствен щанд, който ще бъде посещаван от стотици филмови дейци. Асоциация AFFIF открива Short Film Corner с работна закуска, на която IN THE PALACE ще посрещне голяма част от водещите фигури в късометражната индустрия, презентирайки новостите в програмата си.

Второто най-важно събитие през първия ден от Short Film Corner отново е предоставено на IN THE PALACE. Българският фестивал завършва деня с HAPPY HOUR в неформална среда. На 23 май от 18 ч. са поканени всички, за да се запознаят с възможностите, които фестивалът IN THE PALACE предоставя. Една от тях е безспорното преимущество - филмите победители в конкурсната програма биват разглеждани и евентуално номинирани за наградата Оскар и наградата Гоя.

The Bulgarian International Short Film Festival IN THE PALACE, for the second year in a row, will have its own stand at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Française du Festival International du Film Association (AFFIF) is organizing a Short Film Corner, from 23 to 27 May 2022, as part of the program of the Cannes Film Festival. Its aim is to promote contacts between professionals who have an important role directly related to the directing, production, broadcasting or promotion of short films.

IN THE PALACE is present with its own stand, which will be visited by hundreds of filmmakers. AFFIF opens a Short Film Corner with a working breakfast, where IN THE PALACE will welcome many of the leading figures in the short film industry, presenting the latest in its program.

The second most important event on the first day of the Short Film Corner was again presented at IN THE PALACE. The Bulgarian festival ends the day with HAPPY HOUR in an informal environment. On May 23 at 6 pm, everyone is invited to get acquainted with the opportunities provided by the IN THE PALACE festival. One of them is the undisputed advantage - the winning films in the competition program are considered and eventually nominated for an Oscar and a Goya Award.

The IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival will start almost immediately after your visit to Cannes. Международни преподаватели, активни професионалисти в киноиндустрията, ще споделят своя опит и филмови проекти на фестивала IN THE PALACE в Двореца на културата в Перник, на 5. и 6. юни.

В Питчинг сесията участват 23 български проекта за късометражни филми. Форумът дава възможност за финансиране, копродуциране и дистрибутиране на предстоящи късометражни филми. 12 български проекти-финалисти от първия ден и още 7 чуждестранни ще имат възможността да участват в International Projects Pitch.

Един български проект ще бъде победител, а наградата е 25 000 лв - 10 000 лв, осигурени от фондация „Лъчезар Цоцорков“, снимачна техника на стойност 10 000 лв, предоставена от продуцентска компания Four Elements, и 5000 лв за PR услуги, предоставени от 8PM PR Studio.

Фестивалът IN THE PALACE провежда питчинг сесии на високо професионално ниво от 12 години. През последните 9 години има подсигурено финансиране. Фондът за подкрепа на нови късофилмови проекти на IN THE PALACE се формира като организаторите отделят по един лев от всеки продаден билет, а средствата се разпределят от жури.  „The Duel” от Влад Козлов, който емигрира от Москва в Холивуд, представя реалната история на първия булеварден Супермен Кристофър Денис. Във филма Кристофър си партнира, без предварителна режисура и сценарий, с Франко Неро. Световно известният италиански актьор става популярен с главната си роля в „Джанго“ (1966), след което следват  ролите му в „Саламандър“,  „Джанго II“, „Джанго без окови“, “Умирай трудно 2“, “Изгубеният град на Z”, “Джон Уик“ и много други.

Английският актьор Стивън Макинтош, който публиката познава от филма за Елтън Джон „Рокетмен“, „Две димящи дула“, „Подземен свят“, „Късметлията“ (сериал), „Доктор Ху“, е в главната роля на ветеринар в мистериозния филм „Calving”.

Феновете на “Игра на тронове” могат да видят Оуен Тийл, познат в сериала като Сър Алисър Торн от Нощната стража, в късометражния английски филм “Salt Water Town”. Шеймъс О'Хара (Фъргюс от 8ми сезон на сериала) е главно действащо лице в ирландския късометражен филм „An Irish Goodbye“ – история за двама братя, които намират пътя един към друг.

Единственият селектиран филм от Австралия „Shark”, e режисиран от Наш Еджъртън, който има и актьорска кариера. Виждали сме го в „Междузвездни войни: Епизод 3“ и „Междузвездни войни: Епизод 2“, „Матрицата“ и „Матрицата: Презареждане“. В “Shark” влюбената двойка отива на меден месец, който завършва неочаквано. Роуз Бърн изпълнява главната женска роля. Два пъти номинираната за „Златен глобус“ и „Еми“ австралийска актриса също е играла в „Междузвездни войни: Епизод 2“, както и в “Троя“, “Стажът“, „Х-Мен: Апокалипсис“ и други.

Испанският филм „Sauerdogs“ е история от пустата снежна долина, в която ще видите Оугъст Дийл - актьор в „Гадни копилета“, „Сол“, „Младият Карл Маркс“, “Курск“.

Значително е и българското присъствие в тазгодишната селекция на фестивала. В английската продукция „So Far so Good“ участва българката Боряна Маноилова. Внучката на скулптура Георги Чапкънов – Чапа познаваме от „Маймуни през зимата“, „Засукан свят“, „Сутиенът“ (където си партнира с Мики Манойлович) и др.

„The Immortal” – филм на Николай Урумов, е със звездното присъствие на Юлиан Вергов и Александър Алексиев. „One Elevator Apart“ на младия режисьор Крис Захариев събира на екран култови български актьори като Йорданка Кузманова, Павел Поппандов, Георги Къркеланов, Лили Гелева.

„The Last Audition“ е филм от Канада, режисиран от 17-годишния Камен Стайков. А анимацията „Other Half“, изпратена като английско участие, е на Лана Калчева от България. Филмът ѝ се озвучава от Евана Линч – Луна Лъвгуд от поредицата „Хари Потър“.

Програмата с анимации включва наградения с BAFTA 2022 филм „Do not Feed the Pigeons”. Късометражният „Steakhouse“ и режисьорът му Шпела Чадеж имат много награди и номинации от фестивали в Европа и Америка, сред които Locarno International Film Festival; Sarajevo Film Festival; Ottawa International Animation Festival; Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival и др. А авторът на документалния френски филм „I Gotta Look Good for the Apocalypse“ Ейс Картал има цели 17 награди на международни форуми.

Това са само малка част от любопитните заглавия от фестивала “In the Palace”. Селектираните филми са в 6 конкурсни програми за български и международни филми, както професионални, така и студентски. 4 са поджанрови категории - игрален, документален, анимационен и експериментален филм.

Победителите в категориите за най-добър игрален филм, най-добра анимация и най-добър български филм ще бъдат разгледани от Академията за филмови изкуства и науки на САЩ за номинация за наградите Оскар. In the Palace е единственият български фестивал за късометражно кино, който е сертифициран да изпраща филми за Оскарите.

Тази година над 95 държави кандидатстваха с общо 3281 филма. В селекцията влизат филми от Италия, Иран, Америка, Австралия, Нова Зеландия, Колумбия, Канада, Китай, Мексико, Германия, Португалия, Сърбия, Косово, Полша, Гърция и др. Силно присъствие в тазгодишното издание имат английските и френски филми.

Програмата, от 31 май до 7 юни, обхваща не само филмови прожекции. Научна конференция, дискусии, питчинг сесия, ученически панел, образователни модули, изложби и концерти са час от инициативите, в които професионалисти и любители на киното биват въвлечени.

The International Short Film Festival In The Palace is holding its 19th edition in Pernik this year. More than 160 films from around the world will be screened at the Palace of Culture from May 31 to June 7.

The selected films are in 6 competition programs for Bulgarian and international films, as well as professional and student. 4 are subgenre categories - feature, documentary, animated and experimental film.

The winners in the categories for best feature film, best animation and best Bulgarian film will be selected by the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an Oscar nomination. In the Palace is the only Bulgarian short film festival that is certified to send films for the Oscars.

This year, more than 95 applied with a total of 3,281 films. FILMER FORGE PITCH is running in 2 days and consists of the following activities:

• Pitching training for selected participants

The Pitching Training is held at the end of the 1st PITCH, the night before the FINAL PITCH. International tutors - active film industry professionals - are invited to share their experience in film projects public presentations and to navigate participants how to improve their pitching skills.

• Pitching session for National and International projects

Bulgarian and foreign filmmakers, writers and producers who seek producing, co-producing, funding, and development opportunities for their current or upcoming short film are invited to apply. The most promising projects will have the opportunity to take part in the International Projects Pitch.

Up to 10 not selected projects` representatives will be invited to continue their experience as FILMER FORGE PITCH`s professional audience. They will be able to take part and benefit from the other networking initiatives of the programme.

The winning Bulgarian, or Bulgarian co-produced short film will be rewarded with: 

●  10 000 BGN in cash provided by LACHEZAR TSOTSORKOV FOUNDATION;

●  10 000 BGN for camera equipment provided by FOUR ELEMENTS Production and Service Company;

● 5 000 BGN for PR services provided by 8 PM PR Studio.

The Pitch

Each project team/representative will have up to 9 min to present their project and answer questions from the jury. The competition focus will be on the originality of the concept, the artistic and production potential of the project, and on how convincing was the pitch itself.

За първи път в своята история Международният фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE ще има награден фонд от 50 000 лева. Той ще бъде разпределен в предстоящото 19-о издание. „Искаме специално да благодарим на фондация „Лъчезар Цoцорков“, която от тази година става наш партньор и осигурява част от финансирането. Една от основните цели на фондацията е да подкрепя българската култура и да подпомага развитието и изявата на млади български творци. Вярваме, че това е пътят за подкрепа на младите професионалисти в киното“, споделя Цанко Василев, директор на фестивала.

В рамките на фестивала се провежда и ежегодната професионална проява – Filmer Forge.  Събитията, които включва, са: образователни модули, формални и неформални срещи на късофилмовата индустрия, интердисциплинарна научно-практическа конференция „КЪСОМЕТРАЖНИЯТ ФИЛМ: ЖАНР SUI GENERIS”, както и питчинг трейнинг с питчинг сесия, като това е единственото по рода си специализирано събитие в подкрепа на късофилмовата индустрията в България. Най-добрият български късофилмов проект, избран на питчинг сесията, ще бъде награден с 10 000 лева предоставени от фондация „Лъчезар Цoцорков“, 10 000 лева в техника от продуцентска компания Four Elementz и 5 000 лева в ПР услуги, предоставени от PR студиото „8 PM”.

IN THE PALACE е единственият български кинофестивал, квалифициран да предлага на Академията за филмови изкуства и науки в САЩ късометражни филми, включително и български, за разглеждане за наградата Оскар. Именно това ще бъде и наградата за победителя в категория „Най-добър български късометражен филм“, наред и с парична награда от 10 000 лева, отново предоставени от фондация „Лъчезар Цoцорков“ и 5 000 лева в ПР услуги, предоставени от PR студиото „8 PM”.

Други 10 000 лева Международният фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE ще разпредели между останалите победители, определени от журито на фестивала.

В деветнадесетото си издание IN THE PALACE ще предложи на публиката най-доброто от световното късометражно кино. В селекцията на фестивала ще видим филми на автори, които преди това са участвали в касови продукции като „Игра на тронове”, „Викинги”, „Властелинът на пръстените“, „Карибски пирати“ и много други.

В продължение на седмица IN THE PALACE прожектира най-интригуващите игрални, документални, анимационни, експериментални късометражни филми, като излъчването на всички филми ще бъде премиерно за България.

Международният фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE e единственият фестивал в страната, сертифициран да номинира професионални късометражни филми за разглеждане от Академията за филмови изкуства и науки на САЩ за наградите Оскар: това са победителите в категориите за най-добър игрален филм и най-добър анимационен филм от международната състезателна програма, а заедно с това и победителят в категорията най-добър български филм. IN THE PALACE е квалифициран да предлага и студентски филми за Student Academy Awards® - студентските Оскари.

Международен фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE се подкрепя от Национален фонд „Култура“ и ИА Национален филмов център.

Трите видеа, събрали най-много гледания, ще спечелят и специални награди за предстоящото 19-то издание на IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival.

Краен срок за подаване на видеата: 05.09.2021 г. Победителите ще бъдат обявени на 16.09.2021 г. Във Facebook страниците на Glitch и IN THE PALACE.

УСЛОВИЯ ЗА УЧАСТИЕ:

• Всеки  може да се включи с  1 видео, интерпретирайки посочената тема.

• Всички проекти трябва да са създадени специално за тази игра и да не са участвали в други игри преди това.

• Проектите трябва да са авторски, оригинални, новаторски. С подаването всеки участник декларира, че е автор на представеното от него предложение, както и че същото не нарушава авторски права на трети лица. 

• Всички видеа следва да бъдат изпращани в mp4 формат на електронен адрес mail@inthepalace.com  до 05 септември 2021 г. като прикачени файлове или чрез предоставяне на линк за  сваляне.

• IN THE PALACE има право да използва наградените проекти в своите профили и при специални събития.

• Ще бъдат качвани само проекти, които отговарят на условията за участие. 

• Предложенията, които не отговарят на изискванията на настоящата игра, се отстраняват от участие. Отстранените участници се уведомяват на посочения от тях електронен адрес.

IN THE PALACE отправя покана към всеки български автор, който някога е бил награждаван, селектиран или кандидатствал за фестивала, да подаде заявка за включването му към портфолиото с нови български късометражни филми, което IN THE PALACE ще представи и популяризира пред международната професионална аудитория на кинофестивала в Кан.

Заявка за включването на българските късофилмови производители и новите им проекти в портфолиото на IN THE PALACE може да бъде подадена на имейл адреса на фестивала - mail@inthepalace.com до 31. май 2021 г. вкл.

Международната промоция на българската късофилмова индустрия се превърна в емблематична дейност на IN THE PALACE. Дългогодишна практика на фестивала е ежегодно да взема участие на различни големи кинофоруми и филмови пазари в Европа, сред които Клермон-Феран, Берлинале, Торино, Кан.

„През последните години имахме щанд на най-престижния и разпознаваем фестивал за късометражно кино в света, този в Клермон-Феран, което само по себе си беше успех и голяма крачка за нашата индустрия. Логична стъпка е да надградим и да започнем да представяме IN THE PALACE и на най-големите киносъбития в Европа, каквото със сигурност е фестивалът в Кан. Международният фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE e единственият фестивал в страната, сертифициран да номинира професионални късометражни филми за разглеждане от Академията за филмови изкуства и науки на САЩ за наградите Оскар: това са победителите в категориите за най-добър игрален филм и най-добър анимационен филм от международната състезателна програма, а заедно с това и победителят в категорията най-добър български филм. „ЛЕКА НОЩ, ЛИЛИ" - последният филм с Виолета Гиндева, е Най-добър български филм и предложение на фестивала към Академията за филмови изкуства и науки за награда Оскар

 

           

            Изцяло международно жури излъчи победителите в категориите за Най-добър български филм, Най-добър игрален филм и Най-добър анимационен филм в конкурса „Сребърна принцеса“. Наградените от този конкурс филми IN THE PALACE изпраща в надпреварата за награда Оскар на Академията за филмови изкуства и науки в САЩ.

            "ЛЕКА НОЩ, ЛИЛИ" на режисьора Петър Вълчев със световна премиера на 18-то издание на Международния фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE спечели най-голямото отличие за български филм. Жури в състав Александра Ченчек (Полша), Богдан Мурешану (Румъния), Георги М. Унковски (Северна Македония), Марта Баяри (Испания) и Огньен Петкович (Сърбия) награди филма за „интимното и трогателно визуално изследване на остаряването, паметта и любовта“.  

            За Най-добър игрален филм е отличен BLACK HOLE на швейцарския режисьор Тристан Еймън за „финото и непретенциозно пресъздаване на много интимно и искрено преживяване, което ни връща към собствената ни младост, първите любовни трепети, раздялата и продължаването нататък. Героите са запомнящи се и автентични. Свежият почерк на режисьора и неговият отличителен визуален език оставят дълбока следа в съзнанието на зрителя“.

            Руският BOXBALLET на реж. Антон Дяков взе наградата за Най-добър анимационен филм. „Изящно използване на класическа техника и хумористично, но смилено изобразяване на изненадваща любовна история“ - мотивира избора си журито.

            Жури в състав Файзал Куреши (Великобритания), Гарет Уорланд (Великобритания) и Скай Фитцджералд (САЩ), който наскоро получи трета номинация за Оскар, връчва наградата за Най-добър документален филм на реж. Давид Субервиола от Испания за MUTHA & THE DEATH OF HAMMA-FUKU.

            За Най-добър експериментален филм наградата получи колумбийският THE NIGHT SHATTERS MY SHADOWS на режисьора Луис Ескуера Чифуентес след единодушно решение на Мартин Илиев (България), Петра Зьопнек (Австрия) и Франческа Варгиу (Италия).

 

            В друг основен конкурс на IN THE PALACE - Оскар квалифициращ за Student Academy Awards® - и двата филма - победители са от Полша. Жури в състав Джулиън Корнуол (Великобритания), Теодора Маркова (България) и Юсуф Сайги (Турция) награди MAY THE WORLD NOT CARRY YOU на Розалия Огоновска за Най-добър студентски анимационен филм, а THE DRESS на Тадеуш Лисяк е избран за Най-добър студентски игрален филм.

            Победителят в най-новия конкурс за среднометражно и пълнометражно кино на IN THE PALACE - NOT SHORT AT ALL FILM COMPETITION - е игралният ONDINE на номинирания за Оскар и член на Академията полски режисьор Томаш Сливински. Журито споделя „Тази дълбока и многопластова история е представена чрез света на героя по толкова естествен, непретенциозен и автентичен начин, че напълно спечели сърцата ни“.

At the end of a week full of amazing short (and not at all) films the long expected moment finally came - the winners of 18^th IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival announcement.

Even though for a second time we did not had the chance to meet you all in person here in Bulgaria as it was in the good old times, we are happy of the fact that all the films presented deservedly received high appreciation by professionals and audiences from all around the globe.

We like the style very much, the blue-green colours symbolizing underwater feeling and the rhythm and tempo are very good. The fear about Cezary and the pull effect of the story make it a memorable film. But the film could be longer, slower, it could have a longer breath to get a deeper connection to Cezary's disease.

The story struck at a very personal chord. Emotional and touching story of love, commitment, sacrifice and that desire to live even when life hits you so hard, that you might feel doomed. This profound and layered story immersed in the world of the hero in such a natural, unpretentious and authentic way that it won our hearts completely.”

Жури, съставено от филмови експерти от 12 държави, ще има задачата да избере най-добрите филми от тазгодишното издание на международния фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE. В официалната селекция са включени 120 заглавия от 41 държави.

Международното жури ще посочи своите фаворити в четири конкурса. Сред тях ще бъдат и трите филма, които фестивалът ще предложи на Американската филмова академия за награда Оскар. Тази изключително отговорна задача екипът на фестивала доверява на професионалисти с опит и световни признания.

Сред членовете на журито са имена като Скай Фитцджералд (САЩ), Богдан Мурешану (Румъния), Александра Ченчек (Полша) и Файзал Куреши (Великобритания). Скай Фитцджералд получи номинация за Оскар за документалния си филм Lifeboat след излъчването му на IN THE PALACE. А новината от миналата седмица е, че с най-новия си късометражен филм Hunger Ward, той отново ще мине по червения килим. Богдан Мурешану с филма си The Christmas Gift е носител на Гран при от най-престижния европейски фестивал в бранша – този в Клермон-Феран, Франция, както и на отличието за Най-добър късометражен филм на Европейската филмова академия за 2019 г. Марта Баяри е с номинация за награда Гоя за късометражния си игрален филм Fugit. Александра Ченчек е носител на награда ЕМИ, последвана от още 2 номинации, за работата си върху специалните ефекти в поредицата документални филми на BBC с големия Дейвид Атънбъроу. Името й се свързва и с касови сериали като Чернобил, Аз, вещицата и най-новия в програмата на Netflix - Behind Her Eyes, който стартира преди броени дни. Файзал Куреши е носител на наградата на БАФТА за игралния си филм Four Lions и на награда Еми за документален филм.

Сред членовете на журито има и двама българи - режисьорът Мартин Илиев, носител на награда за Най-добър български филм на IN THE PALACE, както и сценаристът Теодора Маркова, известна с работата си по популярни родни заглавия, като Дъвка за балончета, Писма от Антарктида, Под прикритие, Денят на бащата, Стъклен дом и др.

„Една от важните задачи на фестивал като нашия е, да създава общност и приемствеността е нещо, на което държим. Затова е радостно, когато се случи да поканим за жури автори, които сме открили и които се връщат, но вече в позицията си на лидери на мнение. Световно признатият майстор на илюстрацията Любен Зидаров нарисува специален брандинг за най-големия фестивал за късометражно кино в района и единствен у нас - Международния фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE.

Върху част от творбата „Шесторка или тройка“  ще се развие рекламната кампания на тазгодишното издание на IN THE PALACE, което заради пандемията ще се проведе онлаин в периода 27. февруари - 06. март и физически през месец август 2021 г. в кинозалите и на специални събития с външни прожекции в цялата страна.

„За нас Любен Зидаров е жива легенда, сензация е фестивал да бъде илюстриран от художник от такава величина. Тази година ще използваме само фрагменти от „Шесторка или тройка“. С това искаме да отправим предизвикателство към всички наши зрители да дорисуват картината по тяхно усмотрение. Най-добрите творби, избрани от Зидаров, ще бъдат част от изложба, а авторите - поканени на специално събитие с него в рамките на следващото издание на фестивала“, споделя Цанко Василев, директор на IN THE PALACE.

„Бях чувал за фестивала и ми стана приятно, че се обръщат към мен за визията си. Решението да нарисувам нещо специално беше спонтанно и в случая се получи, защото много често идеите не успяват да се реализират в картина. 17th IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival

(15-22 September)

 

15^TH FILMER FORGE Short Film Pitch 2020

 

The forthcoming edition of FILMER FORGE industry programme invites authors of compelling short film projects to pitch them in front of an international panel and win a grant towards their production and/or find new partners.

The pitching session will have two related sections, as follows:

 I.             NATIONAL PROJECTS

Bulgarian filmmakers and producers who seek producing, funding, and development opportunities for their current or upcoming short film are invited to apply. Up to 20 national projects, selected on the basis of their application, will be invited to pitch to a national panel, and the 10 best projects will have the opportunity to take part in the INTERNATIONAL PITCHING of the pitching session.

 II.            INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

International filmmakers and producers who seek producing, funding, and development opportunities for their current or upcoming short film project are invited to apply. Selected projects will be invited to present their work to an international panel.

On both pitching panels, each project team/representative will have a fixed time (7 min) to present their project and answer questions raised by the panel only. The competition focus will be on the originality of the concept, the artistic and production potential of the project, and on how convincing was the pitch itself.

In order to provide the best possible environment for international networking and project development, FILMER FORGE will be inviting a range of industry enablers to attend the pitching sessions. To ensure that all projects receive feedback, we will also be setting up face-to-face “speed dating” meetings between those who have taken part in the pitching, the panel members, and the attending industry representatives – funders, producers, distributors, buyers, festival representatives, etc.

The best project/s will be receiving a financial grant.

 About FILMER FORGE

 FILMER FORGE is the annual industry program of IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival targeting film creatives from Bulgaria and abroad. It takes place during the festival week and includes educational modules, short film industry market, industry meetings and a short film pitching session. It gathers together international professionals and industry representatives to discover and develop outstanding emerging talents through training and learning, mentoring and thinking, talking, listening and watching.

As you may know, due to the global virus issue many colleagues had to postpone or cancel their festivals in different places around the world. This is a challenging situation for the whole film industry and the tendency still keep going so. So,

Dear filmmakers - you are now in a strange situation to reschedule your festival strategies, thereforе we took the decision to extend our submission period and everyone who wants to apply can have the time to prepare (don`t calm too much, the end is still near).

About us - we are looking forward to celebrating IN THE PALACE 17th edition - as scheduled in September - and can’t wait for you to see the great films and experience unique moments during the festival!

Our preparations continue as normal and we are in close contact with the authorities, as well as with our service providers, the filmmakers and all other stakeholders. Should there be any changes concerning the festival, we will of course inform you about them.

On 19, 20 and 21 December 2019 starting at 18:30 at Dom na kinoto, Sofia, IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival is screening a selection of short films in the following programs:

19/12, Thursday: 2019 Oscar® nominated and awarded animated films and animated films from IN THE PALACE 2019

20/12, Friday: fiction films from IN THE PALACE 2019 from Canada/Tunisia, Germany, Italy, Ukraine, and Spain

21/12, Saturday: 2019 Oscar® nominated and awarded fiction films

All screenings have English and Bulgarian subtitles.

Tickets are available from Dom na kinoto – online and at the ticket counter. One ticket provides access to all the films from a given program/film block with a duration of 90 or 105 minutes.

Prices: 8 leva for a regular ticket; 6 leva for students and pensioners.

Buy a ticket and support the “1 lev for 1 film” campaign! Each ticket sold generates 1 lev towards the production of 1 new short film. After the screenings in Varna, the fund currently amounts to 1004 leva.

The events are part of the Calendar of Cultural Events of Sofia Municipality for 2019.

Тази седмица Международният фестивал за късометражно кино IN THE PALACE обяви членовете на журито, което ще отсъжда най-добрите късометражни заглавия в 4 състезателни категории в рамките на 16-ото издание на кинофорума. Прецедент за българската киноиндустрия е фактът, че най-добрите късометражен игрален и анимационен филм от международната селекция, както и победителят в националната надпревара ще имат възможността директно да влязат за разглеждане и да се борят за номинациите за престижните награди ОСКАР®.

Сред експертите, на които се пада нелеката задача да изберат победители от 144те заглавия тази година, спадат следните:

 Али Агарди (Иран) - режисьор на късометражни филми с над 600 участия по международни фестивали и носител на над 150 отличия.

Файзал - Азам Куреши - продуцент и сценарист, работил по именити документални продукции в Англия и САЩ.

Катя Тричкова (България) - основател на продуцентската компания Контраст филмс, която развива и продуцира документални и игрални филми.

Огнян Ковачев (България) - основател и ръководител на магистърска програма “Литература, кино и визуална култура” в СУ “Св. Климент Охридски”.

Паскал Рейнман (Швейцария) - кинооператор, основал компанията Nordhang Film GmbH в Цюрих.

Питър Мурдма (Естония) - кинооператор, организатор и директор на Sleepwalkers – международен фестивал за късометражно кино и директор на ShortEst Short Film Center.

Филип Илсън (Великобритания) - артистичен директор и съосновател на London Short Film Festival.

Рита Капучо (Португалия) - фестивален директор, програматор и продуцент, един от директорите на Международен филмов фестивал Porto Femme и програматор на сесиите Porto Femme.

Санди Либерсън (САЩ) - знакова фигура в европейската и американската филмова индустрия, съосновател на компанията Goodtime/VPS, продуцирала едни от най-значимите филми на 70-те и 80-те години на миналия век.

Ширин Еренсой (Турция) - продуцент и гост-лектор във Факултета по комуникации на университета Кади Хас.

Витеслав Чованец (Чехия) - програматор на One World Human Rights Film Festival в Прага, член на Чешкия филмов център и Чешки филмов фонд, където отговаря за промотирането на чешки документални и късометражни филми в чужбина.

доц. д-р Зелма Каталан (България) - преподавател в катедрата по англицистика и американистика на Софийски университет „Св. Климент Охридски“, лектор по български език и литература в университетите в Лийдс и Шефийлд, Великобритания и гост-професор в Щатския университет на Ню Йорк - Олбъни, САЩ. 

Богатата експертиза и опит на членовете на журито гарантират безпристрастната и експертна оценка на това кои заглавия заслужават да грабнат призовете на IN THE PALACE. Междувременно отвори официалната регистрационна форма за 16-ото издание на кино форума. Акредитация за събитието ще могат да получат специалисти от филмовата индустрия, студенти, изучаващи киноизкуство, както и медийни представители. Международният фестивал за късометражно кино „IN THE PALACE“ e посветен на продуктите на късометражното кино, новите медии и дигиталните изкуства и е сред трите най-стари по рода си филмови форума на Балканите. FILMER FORGE Short Film Pitch 2019

 

The forthcoming edition of FILMER FORGE@IN THE PALACE invites authors of compelling short film projects to pitch them in front of an international panel and win a grant towards their production.

The pitching session will have two related sections, as follows:

I.          NATIONAL PITCHING/DAY ONE/23 September 2019

Bulgarian filmmakers and producers who seek producing, funding, and development opportunities for their current or upcoming short film are invited to apply. Up to 20 national projects, selected on the basis of their application, will be invited to pitch to an international panel, and the 10 best projects will have the opportunity to take part in the INTERNATIONAL PITCHING on the second day of the pitching session.

II.         INTERNATIONAL PITCHING/DAY TWO/24 September 2019

International filmmakers and producers who seek producing, funding, and development opportunities for their current or upcoming short film project are invited to apply. Selected projects will be invited to present their work to an international panel.

On both pitching days, each project team/representative will have a fixed time to present their project and answer questions raised by the panel only. The competition focus will be on the originality of the concept, the artistic and production potential of the project, and on how convincing was the pitch itself.

In order to provide the best possible environment for international networking and project development, FILMER FORGE will be inviting a range of industry enablers to attend the pitching sessions. To ensure that all projects receive feedback, we will also be setting up face-to-face “speed date” meetings between those who have taken part in the pitching, the panel members, and the attending industry representatives – funders, producers, distributors, buyers, festival representatives, etc.

The best project/s will be receiving a financial grant.

As part of the Sommerfest celebrating the 30th anniversary of Goethe-Institut Bulgaria, IN THE PALACE is presenting an attractive selection of recent short films, produced in Germany, of course.  Do not miss the grand finale when, to celebrate German-Bulgarian friendship, we will be proudly screening a German-Bulgarian co-production.

IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival team will be attending the Festival du court métrage de Clermont-Ferrand and the European Film Market - EFM at Berlinale.

We will be happy to meet you in Clermont-Ferrand in the period 3 – 7 February or in Berlin in the period 8 – 13 February. At the EFM in Berlin you can catch us at the MEDIA Umbrella or the Bulgarian National Film Center stands.

We are now putting together our schedule of meetings and will be glad to hear from you.

Originating as a competitive student film forum in 2003 IN THE PALACE International Film Festival has always been a showcase for student films and has been offering a growing range of diverse educational opportunities for students of film.

We are delighted to announce that IN THE PALACE International Film Festival is now a Student Academy Awards® qualifying festival.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® established the Student Academy Awards® in 1972 to support and inspire student filmmakers. Past Student Academy Award® winners have received 46 OSCAR® nominations and have won or shared eight awards.

You can submit your film to the Student Academy Awards® competition if that film meets all other eligibility criteria and has been selected for screening in competition at three film festivals recognized by the SAAs over the last two years.

KURO Hradec Králové z.s. organized Training course “Volunteering Management Upgrowth – VOLUME UP” in Yerevan, Armenia from 1 st October to 9 th October 2018.

28 participants took part in this project whose main aims were to create a space for reflection on the meaning of volunteering in European, national, local and, personal and professional contexts, create common standards on what a good quality volunteering means, to increase participants’ awareness on the power and potential of volunteering as a tool of youth work, community development and inclusion tool and to promote partnership-building and networking between participants.

The participants had a chance to explore the topics of volunteering, project management, quality features which make a successful project. Moreover, different funds and programmes supporting volunteering were presented. In the end, the participants came up with the suggestions for future projects that they would like to organize with the support of the other participants/partner organizations.

19^th edition of International Izmir Short Film Festival is running in the beautiful Aegean Sea town of Izmir between 30^th October – 04^th November 2018 and we are delightful to be part of this colorful celebration!

As truthful neighbors, Bulgaria is seriously represented by reliable delegation (:D) and amazing films!

IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival`s director Tsanko Vasilev gets in a role of a wise jury member in the International Competition of Izmir festival. Next good news is that among the finalists in this competition there is the Bulgarian short film Timmy by Lyubo Yonchev which had its world premiere at 15<sup>th</sup> IN THE PALACE just 4 months ago – keep our fingers cross for the jurors` final decision – go, go Timmy!

Last, but not least, IN THE PALACE`s manager Liliya Kucheva prepared a great programme of amazing Bulgarian short films, which will be screened in 3 cinema theatres in Izmir during the festival. The titles represented by IN THE PALACE are as follows:

The national finalists for all the countries involved in TEHC - Teaching European History through Cinema – Italy, Slovenia, Romania and Bulgaria are available for online voting now. All of them will participate at the final event in Milan, happening between 18^th and 19^th October. Until then they also compete for 2 awards:

1. Jury Award (consisting of technological gadgets for the students and a donation to the school in order to buy equipment) – it will be designated by an international jury of specialists, one for each country
2. Audience Award (consisting in tech gadgets for the students) – it will be granted to the video-essay who gathers the most online votes until 15^th of October. All visitors can vote their favorite video, not more than once/day.

After an exciting week filled with film, music, partying, rain and thunder, the time had come to announce the winners of 15^th IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival in the different competition categories.

During the closing ceremony of its 15^th edition the festival made an unexpected official statement which shocked the audience attended the closing event. For more information, please check below in the article.

PITCHING SESSION

PSYCHICKEN, by Ata Mojabi, Italy

It is often said that drama is a far easier genre to tackle compared to comedy and so one could not ignore the many laughs that one project succeeded in raising during the pitch. A homage to such legendary animators as Chuck Jones and Tex Avery, we award the pitch award to ATA MOJABI for PSYCHICKEN and hope to see it at this festival soon.

STUDENT COMPETITION

SPECIAL MENTION FOR BEST STUDENT FICTION: MILLIMETERLE by Pascal Reinmann, Switzerland

The discussion concerning Best Student Short was heated and passionate. Special mention should be given to a visually impressive yet compelling short that didn't flinch from the darkness of teenage sexual violence. So the jury notes the accomplishment of Pascal Reinmann's MILLIMETERLE.

BEST STUDENT FICTION: SHADOWS, by Victoria Karakoleva, Bulgaria

For the freshness and poetical approach to a sensitive issue, for the beauty of its cinematic expression, the prize for the best student fiction goes to Shadows by Victoria Karakoleva.

 

BEST STUDENT ANIMATION: HAPPY END by Jan Saska, Czech Republic

The range of animation and techniques in the animation category varied from surreal claymation to imaginative computer graphic imaging. Subjects ranged from an examination of the subconscious to the tactile nature of love. Despite this, story was often neglected in favour of style but this can't be said for the winning animation. A short non-linear examination of the consequences of a simple accident, the jury is unified in awarding best animation to Jan Saska for HAPPY END.

BEST STUDENT DOCUMENTARY: THE SANDMAN by Lauren Knapp, USA

Many of the documentaries blurred the lines between observation and staging for visual effect. There were diverse subject matters from an elderly painter of religious icons to a post-apocalyptic landscape where horses live amongst the ruins of man's civilisation. But one documentary stood out for it's examination of medical ethics colliding with over-reaching state power. Given unique access to those who wield the power of life and death over one of the biggest prison populations in the US, the jury is unified in awarding best documentary to Lauren Knapp for THE SANDMAN.

SPECIAL JURY MENTION: MERYEM by Reber Dosky, The Netherlands

A powerful look at conflict through the eyes of a group of brave and awesome warrior women.

BEST DOCUMENTARY: RAKIJADA - DISTILLATED VILLAGE TALES by Nikola Ilic, Serbia/Switzerland

A refreshing and humorous portrayal of a small community and its eccentric characters that makes us understand the complex nature of Serbian men.

SPECIAL JURY MENTION: DOWNSIDE UP by Peter Ghesquiere, Belgium

This film is a very clever take on the world being different. Turning Down’s syndrome into the norm was very creative. Looked beautiful, great cinematography. Complete story was told in a compact style.

SPECIAL JURY MENTION FOR SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS FILM: HAVE NO FEAR by Marco Calvise, Italy

Absolute tour de force acting by all, gripping Alzheimer’s tale with an emotional punch that breaks your heart.

BEST BULGARIAN SHORT FILM: BANGO VASSIL by Milen Vitanov, Bulgaria

This Bulgarian film is lovely animation. It tells a very strong story, appropriate for both children and adults, with a nod to today’s racial tensions.

BEST INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION: CONFINO by Nico Bonomolo, Italy

This film is beautiful animation with a great story very well told. It is a very beautiful use of storytelling with a strong emotional punch

BEST INTERNATIONAL SHORT: WAVE by Benjamin Cleary and T J O’Grady Peyton, Ireland

This film is a unanimous decision, imaginative, humorous, touching, different and inventive. It made us watch closely. Creating a unique language is very clever. The actor/director carried the film with ease. At 16 minutes it was perfectly timed.

SOFIA UNIVERSITY "ST. KLIMENT OHRISKI"AWARD: SHAME by Petar Krumov, Bulgaria

Petar Krumov is awarded for his specific cinematic expression, original story and good direction. He uses his good command of the black-and-white form in order to intensify the message of the story and the main character’s inner world. The optimistic ironical ending balances the realistic depiction of the dark life of a teenager in unprivileged or unfavorable conditions. The cast of non-professional actors contributes to the spontaneity and truthfulness of characters’ representation. Due to the originality of the narrative, the realistic and natural acting (of course attainable due to adequate director’s work) the cinema-verité taste of the camera movement, and the social thematic, this films stands out in contemporary Bulgarian short film making.
