REGULATIONS

1. Eligible for entry are films with duration of up to 27 minutes, completed after January 1, 2013.

2. The Festival accepts individual submissions, as well as institutional entries (i.e. submissions form production companies, distribution companies, film academies, national film centres, television networks, creative associations etc.) 

3. Entry fees and deadlines for receiving films:

until November 14, 2014
No entry fee

until January 15, 2015 - 20.00 EUR

until April 15, 2015 - 30.00 EUR Student competition

until September 15, 2015 - 30.00 EUR National and International competition

May 30, 2015 - Final selection announced Student competition

October 1, 2015 - Final selection announced National and International competition

4. The Festival will pay a screening fee of 40 Kitri (“Kitra” is the Festival currency and it is approximately equal to 1 euro) for each film selected to compete in the International Competition.

The Festival WILL NOT pay screening fees for the films selected for the side programmes. 

5. The total prize money to be distributed at the The Festival is 10,000 Euro in gold.

6. The Competition Programmes of The Festival are divided as follows:

 

I. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

for films with Bulgarian premiere at The Festival in one of the following categories:

Fiction films

Documentaries

Animations

Experimental films, hybrid forms and formats, digital art works

Films and audiovisual works publicly shown in Bulgaria or released online on free-access websites or platforms are NOT ELIGIBLE for the International Competition!

 

II. NATIONAL COMPETITION

for Bulgarian films, in one of the following categories:

Fiction films

Documentaries

Animations

Experimental films, hybrid forms and formats, digital art works

Eligible for entry in the National Competition are films produced in or co-produced with Bulgaria.

 

III. STUDENT COMPETITION

in one of the following categories:

Fiction films

Documentaries

Animations

Experimental films, hybrid forms and formats, digital art works

Eligible for entry in the Student Competition are films created only during the education period of the director.

7. The Festival will appoint a Selection Committee, as well as a professional International Jury to assess the films shown at the Festival.

8. The authors of all selected films will be notified 9 weeks before opening of the Festival. 

9. Accreditation applications should be sent no later than 6 weeks before opening of the Festival.

10. The deadline for sending screening copies of the selected films is 6 weeks before opening of the Festival.

11. The films must have English dialogue OR English subtitles.

12. Screening copies are preferred to be delivered in HD/High Resolution.

13. The Festival reserves the right to screen the preview copies of the selected films, if the screening copy late and / or differs from the selected one. 

14. The Festival will cover the accommodation fees of one accredited representative per film.

15. The Festival reserves the right to show films that have not been selected to compete in the Competition Programmes in special non-competitive programmes during the Festival. 

16. The copyright owners of the film agree to permit the inclusion of their film(s) in all Festival and post-festival presentational programmes; gratuitous showing of screenshots, trailers and parts of the film (online or via other media) with the purpose of presenting the film’s participation in the Festival.

17. The preview copies of all films submitted to the Festival are automatically included in the Festival Video Library, where they are available for non-commercial professional viewing.

18. The Festival Director has the right to personally resolve any questions not included in these Regulations.

19. By applying for participation in The Festival you agree to all sections of the Festival Regulations.
