Having moved to France in 2002, Chiara Malta (born in Rome in 1977) makes films that are hardly classifiable, as for format and language. L’Isle, her first short film, was in competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2000 and has been selected by several international festivals. En t’attendant has been presented at Pesaro Film Festival (Esordi Italiani) the same year. Her documentary film Armando & Politics, having opened Lo stato delle cose at Turin Film Festival in 2008, broadcasted at the beginning of 2010 on La Lucarne /Arte has been welcomed by critics for its freedom and accuracy, and its uncommon key. Being an active member of Acid, she takes part in Cannes selections. In 2010 she makes two short films, J’attends une Femme and L’amour a Trois (for France 2), and she writes Linda veut du poulet with Sebastien Laudenbach, a long feature film for children, supported by ACE and Région Basse-Normandie.
