Jessica Sarah Rinland studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and Film at Tisch, NYU. She is currently working at a film residency in Bristol for 'Picture This'. Her work explores different forms of manipulation in filmmaking. It often pushes the viewer to question if what they are seeing is real by mixing fact and fiction and by using different filming and editing techniques. 16mm film is used to give a sense of history, and spoken narrations to construct a different layer of realism that connects to the viewer, as if the narrator is sitting in the room speaking to you while the 16mm projector is running. Her work has been included in film festivals, screenings and exhibitions including the Cannes Film Festival, New York Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, a collaborative screening with Jonas Mekas at Soho Curzon Cinema, LA International Film Festival and the Camden Arts Centre and ICA. www.jessicarinland.com
