Synopsis:
Locheng, a young goatherd in northern Uganda learnes to be able to read and write. But the odds are stacked against him. Forty years ago, tribal elders buried a pen, placing a curse on the written word.
Unearthing The Pen is an intimate portrait of a boy's struggle to reconcile tradition with his desire to learn.

Carol Salter is a graduate of the National Film and Television School. Since then she has worked as a freelance director and film editor.
For the last fifteen years she has combined her passion for editing on various award winning shorts, features and documentaries with directing her own films.
