Synopsis: ‘Threads’ tells the story of Liam Jones, a mixed-race fifteen-year-old, who comes face-to-face with Steve Barker, a man who he believes is his father. As he works to uncover further information about Steve, and begin to feel connected to him, he discovers that he is a political candidate for the Far-Right party. Liam must then make a tough decision for a young lad – are his roots or his own individuality more important to him?

Matt Taabu grew up in Kenya, but has spent the most of his life living in the UK, where he studied film at degree level. A writer/director, he is one of the few people to have been commissioned on four occasions by the UK Film Council's Digital Shorts scheme via his regional funding agency Screen Yorkshire. His work shorts revolves around exploring issues of social and cultural identity, with an emerging track record that shows he is not shy of tackling difficult subject matter or opening it up to a wide audience. His films have won awards both in the UK and abroad. He is Managing Director of his production company Angel Ego Films, which has worked with a number of high profile corporate clients, and has also produced music videos.
