SEA IT is a training initiative, part of the educational program FILMER FORGE of the FILM PALACE FEST, Balchik. The programme aims to encourage the Bulgarian authors to professionally develop and shoot their works from the very beginning. The programme gives the participants the chance to work with experienced foreign professionals and to learn by practice how to shoot short etudes as part of the training. This year the SEA IT trainees will learn how to make a music video. In the end of the course a jury of 5 members, including experienced musicians, music producers and the SEA IT trainers will choose the best video. The participants will have to work in small groups of director, cinematographer and editor.

SEA IT is common initiative of Format SFF Foundation, the Cinema and TV Department of NBU, the Film and TV Editing Department of South-West University Blagoevgrad, the Screening Arts Department of NATFA and Art College.

LECTURERS

In 2010 trainers of SEA IT will be Faisal Quresi (Editor, Director and Scriptwriter, UK),  Alexandra Kalymnios (Director, UK), Stephanie Hardt (Cinematographer, Germany).

Faisal A. Qureshi (UK) – director, script-writer and editor. He is a part-time lecturer at the Escula Internacional Cine y TV in Cuba, Salford University and Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. He has also worked on the British Council “I, Belong” project in Pakistan and the “Film ON” project in Uzbekistan.

Alexandra Kalymnios (UK) – director of TV series for BBC and short films for the big screen; received a special recognition by Broadcast Magazine for best upcoming young talent in the British Television industry in 2009.

Stephanie Hardt (Germany) an award-winning cinematographer. She works on projects ranging from promos, virals, commercials and independent features to documentaries and TV series. She earned the ARRIFLEX AWARD for best camera and lighting while the Coca Cola virals she shot last year have won her 7 British TV Advertising Awards.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION

SEA IT is open to young filmmakers and students in the first two years of their study in any of the Bulgarian Film Schools in the following disciplines (film directing, cinematography, editing). The training is open for a maximum of 21 participants. A limited amount of scholarships is available. The results of the application selection and the scholarship winners will be announced by email on June 5, 2010.

The entry fee for participation in SEA IT is 150 BGN and includes:

•    Participation in the training
•    Free access to all open classes and presentations at the festival
•    Access to all festival screenings
•    Access to MOVE IT
•    Access to the festival zones
•    Access to the music & entertainment programme
•    Access to the video library
•    Access to MARK IT

Travel, accommodation and meals are NOT included.
