Synopsis: Creative documentary painting a starling portrait of a village in limbo through the eyes of a property dealer and an artist who share an obsession with the strange place. Director Mathew Lloyd explores the imagined future for the village, built to great acclaim and expense during the 1970s oil boom. Combining unusual use of archive with stunning photography and a haunting soundscape, "Pollphail" unravels the unique and unsettling history to reveal a very different future than was planned for the village, and clashing ideals about how its life should now play out..
Director: Mathew Lloyd
Mathew Lloyd has worked on Scottish film productions in various roles for over a decade. He holds Master's degree in Film Studies, with a particular research interest in film festivals. Mathew was short film programmer for Edinburgh International Film Festival 2004-08, and co-director in Inverness Film Festival 2006-08. In 2008 he produced the Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams, Tilda Swinton and Mark Cousin's festival in North East Scotland, and continues to work with them on further events. Mathew is currently developing a short fiction script through Digicult Scottish Digital Shorts scheme, and several documentary and fiction ideas.
