AMNESIA
documentary
Bulgaria, 2009, 25'
Director: Marta Ilieva
Director of photography: Martin Velchev
Writer: Rossen Tsvetkov
Synopsis: A year after the murder of the student Stoyan Baltov in front of the disco club “Amnesia” in Sofia Student’s town, the journalist Rossen Tsvetkov revisits the case. After tens of protests in front of the Bulgarian Parliament and the brave promises of the institutions, the Student’s town is still the town of sin. Cameraman Martin Velchev shows bloody fights, drunk and stoned young people and crazy parties in the very reading-rooms of the boarding-houses. The crew of the documentary traces what has happened with the trial of Stoyan’s murder and looks for the answer to the question why his killers are not in prison but at home. And why after so much public discontent, we forget again… we are in amnesia again.
